About me
I am currently researching smart production system controls, production information models, and digital twins for advanced and additive manufacturing at NIST, United States. I have a doctorate in Industrial Engineering from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. I completed my undergraduate studies in Industrial Engineering with a focus on production technologies, processes, and engineered systems. I have assisted undergraduate courses and supervised student projects on topics including Industrial Practice, Industrial Ergonomics, Production Management, Manufacturing Processes, and Manufacturing Systems.
My current academic interests include additive manufacturing, aerospace production, model-based systems engineering, quality management, and digital production technologies. I have developed a model-based production systems engineering approach for the qualification and certification of metal laser powder bed fusion for aerospace applications. I have published research related to model-based production systems design and development approaches, manufacturing management systems implementation, qualification and control procedures for aerospace production, aviation certification reviews, and metal alloy development and characterisation.
I am a member of SAE International, INCOSE, SAIIE, ASTM International, and I assist with the annual RAPDASA conference. Additionally, I develop and liaise on standards development activities on the topics of additive manufacturing qualification and data management for ISO, SAE International, and ASTM International standards. I am an active reviewer for journals and conferences including Progress in Additive Manufacturing, Rapid Prototyping Journal, SAE Aerospace Journal, IMECE, RAPDASA, SFF, and SAIIE.
My interests and hobbies include playing and watching sports such as football, cricket, and rugby. I enjoy hiking and traveling when I get the chance and have a passion for cooking and learning new cuisines. Additional hobbies include watching movies, listening to music, and learning new skills.
